Established in 1993, the SCMHRD is definitely the best MBA School here in Pune. With the
aim to identify young people with professional aspirations, talents and determinations and
to trigger them off to become excellent inspirational leaders in their pursuits, their
vision is to be a globally respected ‘Gurukulam’ sculpting principled and
inspiring performers and decision makers. The SCMHRD offers a PostGraduate Diploma in
Management and also a PGD in Human Resources Development. The SCHMRD also conducts
Management Development Programs and takes up Consultancy and Research.
The total number of seats available is 100. The first three semesters are common for all
specialisations. The objective is to build a strong conceptual base; develop awareness of
the art, science and contemporary realities of management and excellence and uncover
leadership through a variety of activities, classroom sessions, case studies, workshops,
field assignments and so on.
Also a lot of common courses and extra–curricular activities such as yoga, workouts,
Mind Management, Pound Table and Book Seminars are organized. The school also has a well
– stocked library, health Centre, canteen. Latest Computer facilities are available
but at present there is no hostel facility.
The selection process is common for all courses, as there is a written test of 230 marks
on 9th January 2000.

Institute of Management Studies.
The Symbiosis Institution of Management Studies was established in 1971 to be a Management
Institute with a difference. The SIMS is a unique institution because admission to its
management programs is restricted to only serving personnel of the defence forces and
their dependents and also because of its innovative grooming methods, successfully
introduced to make the management programs more practical and effective. The SIMS offers
various courses such as the Post Graduate Course in Management which is a two-year full
time management programme, and also Govt. of India sponsored courses which are DGR
courses. The SIMS also offers correspondence and Part time courses.
The Admission process and selection process is distinct when compared to any other
management institution in the country. It facilitates selection of the right kind of
students with the right attitude and stamina to undergo rigorous training schedules
throughout their two year training period in the Institution.
The selection process consists of Public Advertisement, an Entrance Examination, Group
discussion, Industry Experts panel interview and finally the merit list is declared.

The Symbiosis Institute of Business Management.
Recognizing
the need for management education at an early stage, the Symbiosis Society started SIBM in
1978. SIBM, the pioneer management institution of Symbiosis is recognized by the
University of Pune and the Government of Maharashtra, and the Pune University programme
approved by the AICTE.
With
the help of the Atur Foundation, Pune, SIBM boasts of academic facilities unrivalled by

Institute of Management and Development.
IMDR was established in 1974 as a constituent unit of the Deccan Education Society. It
took over the MBA program of the MBA Centre of the University of Pune and the DBM
programme, run in the BMCC(a sister institution) since 1968. Affiliated to the University
of Pune, the IMDR was also a recognized centre for research leading to Ph D.
IMDR is a community of students, staff and faculty striving to be vibrant with learning
processes which allow individuals to be themselves while being productive with their
capabilities and creative with their energy. The programme prepares students to be
down-to-earth Performers, who continuously learn from experience and develop into
thoughtful and sensitive professionals. Its unique design is based on Instructional System
Design Methodology. It is not modeled on any other Indian or Foreign programme. The
programme at present is not residential.
All candidates to the PGDM of IMDR are required to take the CAT ( Admission Test of
the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM). They are required to apply to IMDR
quoting their CAT Registration Number. On the basis of their performance in the Test,
about 350 candidates are shortlisted for the next step. This is usually announced in MARCH
every year. The students of the IMDR have successfully been recruited in companies such as
BPL Mobile, Ceat Financial Services, KEC International, Kinetic Engg. Kotak Mahindra
finance, Mannesman Demag India, P & O Nedllyod, Toyota Kirloskar , Vetri Software

4) The Symbiosis Institute of Foreign Trade
The SIFT came into existence in 1992 and today has pride of place amongst the various few
prestigious institutes in India providing an exclusive focus on foreign trade and
international business. In search for core competencies, an increasing numbers of

SIFT is at the forefront, catering to these enhanced needs and providing the cutting edge
in the intensely competitive environment. The SIFT offers the Masters Programme in
International Business. The MPIB is a two-year full time post- graduate programme. The
course prepares a student for employment as a young executive in the domestic or
international divisions of companies in the functional areas of Marketing and Finance. The
course deals in General Management, International Business, Computer Applications,
Marketing and Finance. The total intake of the course is 90 students.
The Written Test is held all over India at several Centres while the GD and Interviews are
