USA, Indianapolis - September 28nd - 30th - 2001
About the USA GP
Last year Formula One made its much-anticipated return to the United States, and it was
successful. The biggest ever crowd in Grand prix history turned up to see the event, which
was run on part of the hallowed Indianapolis circuit and a new purpose-built, infield
section. The racing was not what US fans are used to seeing, particularly when Mika
Hakkinen retired, robbing the race of a great battle between the Finn and Michael
Schumacher. The real success of the race will become evident this year when the sales of
tickets begin, and organisers will be hoping most of those present in 2000 werent
there for the novelty of the event.
Set-up
Teams are presented with a tricky set-up conundrum at Indy. The mix of twisty infield and
the super-quick banked turn into pit straight call for a compromise. Low to medium
Downforce settings are likely for this years race.
