Connectivity:
Two of the big Bus Stands, Deccan
Gymkhana and Corporation Bus Stands
are here itself. Though
a bit of walking to these bus stands
is required, autos can be hired,
but they do charge a bit extra for
short distances. |
Six-seaters for a number of places like Kothrud,
Khadki, Station etc. are available. With
the huge colleges and their hostels, the
student population is tremendous out here.
As a result of their patronage and convenience
of E-mail and STD facilities, scores of these
outlets have opened up. Cyber Cafes excluding
a selected few, are cheap but slightly congested.
Some even have booking system for the slots.
Highlights A visit to institutions likes
Fergusson, FTII, ILSs Law College is
suggested. The restaurants like Pizza Hut,
Shivsagar, Poona Coffee House, Luckys,
Manmeet and the ever popular Vaishali should
be definitely tried out, at least once. Some
of these places are known for their ambience
and some for the food and some simply for
the type of crowd it pulls! For the month-ends
and broke students, the Chinese Tapris
are the favorite haunt. Eating from these
tapris has its own fun with the
food being extremely tasty most of the times.
The Kamala Nehru Park is another popular hangout
in the evenings for the adults and students
alike. Interestingly, colleges have hills
named after them like the Symbiosis and the
Fergusson hill.
Must See's:The FTII and the Pataleshwar
Cave temple, 8th century temples
cut out of a single rock are one of Punes
main highlights.The Archies Gallery
on F.C. Road has one of the best collections
in cards and gifts and ought to be checked
out. This area is always bustling with activity
due to the college crowd, giving it a very
young and lively feel. |
